Age 62, of Dartmouth/Watt Section. It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Cynthia Cheryl Mombourquette, who passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving husband, Paul, on Monday, August 28th, 2017. Born in Sheet Harbour, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Floris (Monk) Scott. Cynthia graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1976, with a Bachelor of Home Economics, specializing in fabric and textile design. She worked at Goodman's Fabrics in Halifax for several years and then established a successful career at the Sackville Public Library, working as a reference assistant and a children's programmer for 22 years before retiring in 2012. Cynthia had a profound interest in literature, was an avid reader, and she especially enjoyed mysteries and reading aloud to children. She was a gifted craftsperson, excelling in knitting and crothet, cross-stitch, rug hooking and clothing design. She was extremely generous with both her time and her talents, often making and designing items to give to others while also lending a helping hand in any possible way. She also enjoyed puzzles and relished the challenge of any project which had to be assembled or built. Cynthia was very caring and sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. She found great joy in brightening the lives of family, friends and those in need. Cynthia's life was made fuller and happier by those close family members and friends, many with whom she knitted, who stayed by her side through both the good and very difficult times. Cynthia enjoyed many long walks in nature and drives in the country with her husband Paul, with whom she shared a deep love and friendship. He will miss her terribly. Cynthia will also be sadly missed by her daughter, and only child, Chelsea who she absolutely adored. Cynthia was predeceased by her mother, Floris Scott (Monk); father, Aubrey James Scott; and first husband Martin Thomas Evong. She is survived by her husband Paul; daughter Chelsea (Matthew) Cleveland, Ottawa; brother, Finlay (Wanda) Scott, Watt Section; sister Shirley (David) Byers British Columbia; niece, Shelly (Steve) Morrison, Dartmouth; nephews, Brent (Donna) Maguire, Marcel, Andre and John Paul Scott, Watt Section; great nieces, Hadley and Violet Morrison, Dartmouth; Terry Maguire, Watt Section; and aunt, Shirley (Les) Burridge, Credition, England. We would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on the 11th, 8th and 7th floors of the VG Site as well as the VON nurses for their wonderful care, respect, support and kindness. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A chapel service to celebrate Cynthia's life will take place on Friday, September 8th at 11:00 AM in Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd., 307 Prince Albert Road, Dartmouth. Rev. Mr. John O. Scott, officiating, followed by a short reception, then burial in Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of donation, Cynthia's wishes were for people to read to someone, as she enjoyed reading to others, especially children. Cynthia always believed the reading voice is magical and powerful and in addition, she asked us all to do something nice, an act of kindness for someone in need.
