Obituary For Gloria Butler

Age 81, Halifax, passed away November 2, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family. Gloria died as she lived, with dignity and grace. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Byron and Helen (Dorey) MacDonald; husband, Bill; and grandson Billy Noble. Mom's greatest joys in life were raising her five children and working alongside her husband at Butler Opticians. Mom's legacy is the love she bestowed upon her family and her dedication to her faith. She was a neighbourhood mom who opened her arms and her home to so many. She will be deeply missed, but we will forever by thankful for having had such a loving mother. Our hope is to pass her legacy to our own children, grandchildren and their foster children. Gloria is survived by her sister Judy (Art) Malay; brother; Tony Mathieu; best friend Rose and the entire Mathieu Family; her daughters, Kathryn (Jerry) Vantassel, April (Lorne) Ostrov; sons Tony (Bonnie), John (Galen) Mark (Mary); grandchildren, Taryn, Jordan, Dustyn, Kayce, Samantha, Justin, Alex, James, Mark, John, Justin, Brittany and great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Stuart, Lincoln, Rozabella, Denver and Maisie Kate. A private service has been held. Donations may be made to The Red Cross, the food bank or a charity of your choice. A heartfelt thank you to the "Closing the Gap" staff.
