Obituary For Helen Jean Joyce (Creighton)

Helen Jean (Creighton) Joyce of Lower Sackville passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on December 1, 2017 at the Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of sixty-four.

Helen is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years, Paul Joyce, by her children, Ian Joyce, Jennifer Joyce-O’Quinn (Murray O’Quinn), and James Joyce, her granddaughter Parker O’Quinn, her sister Carole Creighton (Robert MasKill), her brother Ron Creighton (Valerie Creighton), and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Ian Creighton and Lois (MacKay) Creighton, of Tatamagouche.

Helen was a loving mother, a committed and dedicated wife, a proud grandmother and a loyal friend. Her sense of humour was unmatched. Her personality was vivacious. She had the ability to see the best in every person and in every situation. She would do anything for anyone.

Helen most enjoyed the time that she spent at her family cottage on the shores of Malagash, Nova Scotia. She also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, racing to finish the Friday Lexicon before her husband could beat her to it, and spending quality time with her many, many friends.

Cremation has occurred under the direction of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors. A private family burial will be scheduled to occur at the Lockerbie Memorial Cemetery, Tatamagouche. A further celebration of Helen’s life will occur in Malagash in July 2018.

To the Joyce and Creighton families: I was shocked to hear of Helen's passing - you have my most sincere condolences. Even though I did not know Helen as well as I know Carole and Ron, I must say you could not have found a nicer person. Helen, upon seeing me in Tatamagouche always took the time to stop and say hello and to ask how things were with me or with my brother. She was such a genuine and nice lady. I hope the many memories you must have of Helen will help carry you through this most difficult time - you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry to hear about Helen's passing. She was a close mother to Ian, Jimmy and Jennifer and a familiar face on the shore. Always wanting you to drop by, she was friendly to everyone and loved to socialize. Take care in this time of tragedy and remember the good times; I'm sure there are many.
