Obituary For Ivan Morrison

Ivan Morrison passed away peacefully December 9th,2017 at the age of 79 years.

Born in Manchester South, Smithington England. He was the son of the late Walter and Ruby (Bates) Morrison. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy and served aboard the HMCS Truro as well as the HMCS Bonaventure (Aircraft Carrier) during the 1950`s and 60`s which had a lasting impact on his life as he loved anything to do with the sea. Ivan became an accomplished artist which, of course, included works depicting navy vessels of all types and more recently paintings of historic rural churches. He was Commanding officer of the 88 Truro Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps for many years and ran the family business, White Sail Draperies in Truro, Nova Scotia until his retirement.

He is survived by his partner Doris Pyke, sons Jon (Betty) and Peter and daughter Nancy, five grandchildren (Brendan, Kate, Maggie, Joy and Eva) and two great grand children Weston and Chloe. He is also survived by his former wife Donna MacLellan (Crowe). He will be missed by all.

A celebration of Ivan`s life will be held on Friday December 5th, at 11 am. At the church of St. Andrew, 2 Circassion Dr., Cole Harbour, NS B2W 5C2 with Rev. Catherine Boubonniere.

Donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cremation is taking place under the care of Donald K. Walker donaldkwalker@accesswave.com

    I will miss Ivan with all my heart! Just want to send warm hugs to Doris and family. He wrote such beautiful letters and I will treasure the 2 paintings he gave to me. Il never forget my time in Canada with Doris and Ivan. Beautiful people!

    I had the pleasure and priviledge of serving Ivan in a time of need. He was such a pleasure to work with; always thankful and appreciative of assistance. My condolences to the family at this difficult time.
