John "Jackie" Edward Jackson
Obituary for John "Jackie" Edward Jackson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie at 80 years old, on June 23, 2017. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late John and Cecilia (Barrette) Jackson. Jackie was always seen going for his daily walks or bus rides, as he would say, "just to get out" or "do some scratching". Going to the lotto booth to purchase his scratch tickets, enjoying the free tickets or small wins. Jackie's favourite thing was having a cup of tea and watching his sports. He could tell you anything about baseball and hockey (especially the Blue Jays or Maple Leafs), the daily scores, and who's going to make it in the play-offs. Jackie was known to always have a smile on his face, to make jokes and have funny smart sayings. He is survived by his brothers, Richard and James; sister, Nancy Ritchie; as well as several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by brother, Ronnie; sisters, Lorraine, Carol, Diane, Jeanette, Judy and Donna. He will be sadly missed by family and friends but will never be forgotten. There will be a private family burial in Camphill Cemetery in Halifax on Wednesday, June 28. Cremation has been entrusted to Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd.
