Obituary For Lawrence A Smith

Lawrence A. Smith, Larry, 63, died suddenly of heart failure Feb 7, 2019. The second of six children born to Kay and Laurie Smith, Halifax, he was brother to Patricia, Stephen, Cathy, David, and Brian. His nieces and nephews will miss Uncle Larry. Survived also by Aunt Edie Warner and many cousins. A graduate of St Patrick's High School and Saint Mary's University (BA), Larry was a provincial basketball champion and loved sports, enjoying many football games with family and friends. He was kind, generous and humorous with a wide knowledge of history and politics. He loved gaming, a good book, good food, good wine and was a definite nighthawk. For many years he cared for our mother and other family members, always wanting to do more. We are grateful and indebted to him for that kindness, patience and fortitude. He is sadly missed for we were always six, and now are five. Arrangements under the care of Donald K Walker Funeral Directors Ltd. A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held in the Unilever Lounge, Sobey Building, Saint Mary’s University, Halifax on March 16th from 9:00 – 10:30 am. No flowers please. Following, family will attend the burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville.

The Unilever Lounge is located on the 4th floor of the Sobey Building, Robie Street, Halifax just past the main McNally Building. Parking is available near the building. Spaces reserved for faculty are generally available on weekends. Enter the main doors of the Sobey Building to elevators.

The family invites you to join them at this Celebration of Life.
