Obituary For Robert "Bob" James McGregor

Age 76 of Cole Harbour, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on September 24th, 2017. Born in Hamilton, Ont., Bob was the oldest child of the late Arthur McGregor and Doris (Camden)(McGregor)Manners and his stepfather, the late Norman Manners. Bob served 35 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring as Chief Petty Officer 1st Class, Laboratory Supervisor at N.D.M.C. Ottawa, Ont. He enjoyed camping, fishing and curling. He was a Cub and Scout leader while posted in Victoria, B.C. and Greenwood. Bob loved animals, especially dogs, beagles being his favourite, owning and showing them to championship level. He was an avid collector of dog-themed stamps, postcards, Royal Dalton and Beswick China dogs. In recent years, he and Carol enjoyed going to Neptune Theater. His laughter will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. Bob's family was very important to him. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 51 years, Carol (Skinner); a loving dad to their daughters Karen (Shawn) Pineo, and Robyn McGregor (Randy Campeau). A proud Grampie to Kelsie Pineo (Nathanial), Casper Pineo (Thomas), Casandra Home (Keegan), Alexandra, Olivia and Vanessa Horne. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Carl) Mountford, Hamilton, Ont. and several nieces and nephews. Bob will be missed by his feline pal Max. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Donald Manners; and his grand niece Blythe Vento. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors Ltd. 307 Prince Albert Road, Dartmouth, NS. There will be a Celebration of Life at their home, October 6th, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a graveside service that will take place at 2:00 PM in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, 767 Main Street, Dartmouth, NS
