Obituary For Wanda Gwen Al-Molky

WANDA GWEN AL-MOLKY – Age 61, of Upper Sackville, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 13th with her family by her side at the Victoria General Palliative Care Unit.

She is survived by her parents Naseem (Jr) and Anna Al-Molky, (Slauenwhite), sister Ruth (Warren Parsons), brother Kevin (Joy Smith), along with nephew Adam McNamara and niece Amanda Wilneff. She was many things to many people; a daughter, a sister, an Aunt, a Godmother, and a friend. To her siblings she was known as "Sis".

Wanda was the first child for Anna and Al and many a night during her first years would find them rocking her to sleep so she did not cry. Despite being the oldest, as a family we always treated her special due to ongoing illness's. Wanda completed her Secondary education at Sackville High and went on to Graduate from Mount Saint Vincent University with "Early Childhood Studies. Later she continued her education obtaining her certificate in Fashion Design at Mount Saint Vincent as well.

Wanda had several jobs during the early years but her passion and calling was in the Clothing industry where she designed and created outfits for all ages. From wedding dresses to children's clothes to maternity wear she handmade the patterns and sewed the garments for various clients and family. She helped to develop Marine survival suits for Narwhal Marine while employed there during the early eighties. To test the survival suits against the elements she had to obtain her certification for scuba diving, and then it was off to Halifax harbour for a cold dip in the ocean. She also worked a number of years with Suttles and Seawinds, a shop that specialized in quilted skirts, dresses and coats. After returning to Sackville she worked for the City teaching "Newcomers" arriving from various countries to sew. Wanda was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at this time which would change her life forever. Her passion for fashion and clothing design over the next few years would be taken from her as the disease progressed. Wanda loved animals, especially her little dog named Skippy who would sleep by her bedside every night.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Wanda with a memorial service which will be held on Saturday February 22nd, 2020 @ 2:00 pm at the St. John the Evangelist Church; 954 Old Sackville Road, Reverend Ruby Carter officiating. All friends and acquaintances are welcome to join the family immediately after at a reception in the Church Hall.

A special thank you to Dr Lappin, the Staff of Northwood and the VON's for the wonderful care of Wanda over the past number of years. Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Wanda. I used to do home care and visited Wanda a few times. She always had a smile, and I remember all the pretty jewelry she would pick out to wear for the day. I'll remember you in my prayers during this difficult time.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Wanda. Wanda was a wonderful person and anyone who knew her loved her. The last visit I had with Wanda was in the hospital and she was having a good day as I know some days were more difficult for her. She was smiling, laughing and chatting with us and we had great conversation. I will cherish those memories for many years to come. May the sorrow you feel in your hearts lighten by the love that surrounds you all during this difficult time. Know that you will always have the wonderful memories to cherish and comfort you and know that she is not suffering anymore. God's love and many prayers are all around you, now and for as long as it takes. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. Sharon and Ron MacDonald

My condolences go out to you Anna and al. I will never forget all the good times Wanda and I had together. Watching Ellen at 1 pm, Days Of Our Lives at 2, and General Hospital at 3. We had such a perfect schedule, and while eating our lunch together. I miss you already we were born the same year, but I always teased her about her being so much older, and looking older than me.lol she was born in April and I in December. She always said " I Don't think so! " and laughed. I will miss her contagious smile, and kind heart I love this quote, it so suits Wanda. God saw her getting tired, A cure not meant to be,So he put his arms around her, and whispered....... " Come With Me" Till We Meet Again.....My Friend.... Andrea Dempsey
