Obituary For Carol Kean
Carol Kean of Dartmouth, NS.
January 16, 1954 - March 12, 2022
Carol, daughter of the late J. Heber and Marie (Coffin) Kean was born in LeRoy Saskatchewan.
As a toddler her family moved to the Maritimes where she spent most of her life. After graduating from Acadia University with a B.Sc. & B.Ed. She spent 30+ years teaching school in Halifax and Dartmouth.
Carol was an avid traveller, preferring year long trips, during which she lived immersed in the local culture and lifestyle. She travelled across South America, China, India, parts of South East Asia, Africa, and Europe. She returned from these trips with pictures, stories, art and changing opinions based on her expanding world view. While in India she studied Buddhism, and was part of the Halifax Shambhala Centre for many years.
Carol loved ocean Kayaking, with countless hours of paddling in the waters off Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. She was particularly fond of Conrod Beach where she spent much of her free time.
She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Susan Kean; and she is survived by her siblings; Mary (Darrell), Burke, Ross (Rita) Kean, Patti Kean and David Kean, 9 nieces and nephews, 9 great-nieces and great-nephews and her aunt, Beth Smith.
The family would like to thank the staff of Oak Terrace, Dartmouth for their excellent care and support of Carol during her last months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Alzheimer's Society or The Canadian Cancer Society.

I was saddened to hear of Carol's death. I taught with Carol at Robert Kemp Turner School. She was adventurous, athletic, helpful, hard-working, committed to her students, and kind. May your happy memories of Carol comfort you during this time. God bless.

We wish to pass along our deep condolences. Carol was apart of our church family for a couple of years (Church of Our Saviour) before her health issues no longer allowed her to do so. My condolences to Carol's family. She taught my daughter (Erin Ingram) in grade 5 at Robert Kemp Turner Elementary School in Cole Harbour in the 1980's. She was an excellent teacher. Caring, observant, compassionate and extremely interested in the welfare and education of her students. She will be missed by many.

I spent much of the 80's sea kayaking with Carol, and we were good friends, part of a whole gang of outdoor people. Although I did not keep up with her over the years, I have many fond memories of wilderness beaches and Carol's lively company! May her memory be a blessing to all. Jon Grant

Carol was a an integral part of our small part of the street we lived in for 30 or so years. She was loving, decent, kind, helpful, and a very good friend. Though she did not suffer fools gladly, she was the best. I and our neighbours have missed since she was spirited away from her home without a good bye. I know she is now at peace, without confusion and without unhappiness. I will remember. Carol, my friend.

I am saddened to learn that Carol passed away. She and I taught together in Bedford and she took over my class when I had my deferred. That year she took 'our' class to the geological museum in Parrsboro and I chaperoned. I have fond memories of Carol....she was such a dedicated teacher. So sorry for the loss of your dear sister.
