Obituary For Linden Kenneth Fry

Linden Kenneth Fry, 67, of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away at home on Feb 10, 2022.

Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Tucker and Betty (West) Fry.

With his trademark long hair, calm demeanor, and leisurely stride, Linden truly embraced an easygoing lifestyle in his retirement years.

He could be found in the yard blasting Q104 and exercising his green thumb. His extensive garden overflowed with veggies every year and all neighbours were welcome to take a few tomatoes (or cucumbers, or zucchinis... please take a zucchini).

His friendships were those of a lifetime and he was always up for drag races, lending a hand on a project, or a few relaxing games of crib.

He was a crossword master, never without the latest NYT omnibus, and loved a good sci-fi read. His favourite chair by the fire was for watching the Nascar 'roundy rounds' and for nap times with doggo Lola.

Linden was proud of the house he built and the family he raised. He had a knack for writing and there was a poem ready each Christmas for his wife Margaret. His daughters will always remember family camping trips, soccer games, and Dad teaching them how to use tools and fix cars. He was always a steady source of love, guidance, and humour in their lives.

He is survived by his wife Margaret (Mills) daughters Courtney and Laurel (Geoff), sister Cynthia Fry (Donald), and half brother Donald Martin (Cathy).

At his request there will be no funeral service. To celebrate his memory we encourage you to stay true to Linden style - have a cold one, throw on some Floyd, and dig up your best memories.

Linden and Margaret have been close friends of ours for almost 40 years. Linden will live on, always in our hearts as we remember and celebrate the wondrous journey we followed together as two closely knit families, first as neighbours, then as housemates in the home we shared in Brookside for seven years, and then as neighbours again, just down the road a bit, in the home that Linden built for his family. What wonderful and happy adventures we had over the years – many weekend camping trips and family celebrations together, before and after children came along. And, just a few months ago when we spent a few days together in St. John's and coming back home on the Argentia Ferry. To Margaret, Courtney and Laurel, We know that your hearts are aching, as are ours. Our deepest sympathies go out to you today. Spencer and Sue

Saddened to hear of Linden's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him during our high school years, hanging out with friends, listening to music, getting to know his family, working with his mother, sharing time and accumulating life long memories. Although we moved in different directions following high school, I always remembered him fondly for his gentle soul, easy smile and inquisitive mind.
