Condolences

I'll never forget, when I finally earned my first Sperry Salesmen Club, Al had earned his twenty-second consecutive Club - and I'll never forget how much he worked wonders for all of us to succeed. If you wanted to win, you did it like Al. Finally, I'll never forget how much he much he cheered me up while we both were both going through our early prostate cancer stages. Diane, I wish you my most heartfelt condolences - to you and to your family.

As a co-worker, business associate and friend of Al since 1966 I am saddened to hear of his passing. Al was always there to 'watch your back' if needed. My sincere condolences to Diane and family.

I worked with Allan in the early days of computers. He, Keith Shaw and I wrote the N.S. Power System in the late 60's. He was a natural for the computer field, as proved by his career. He was a friend to all, and his presence livened up the office, as Tony Morris recalled. I believe he may have been the only boss who reserved a prime location at the Split Crow to encourage and reward his staff. He regaled everyone with his "fish stories" and frequent updates of driving his father's oil truck with little or no brakes. He will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences.

I first met Allan in the early eighties, not a particularly easy guy to get to know but I soon realized the twinkle in his eye offset the serious demeanor. I always had huge respect for Allan and valued his friendship highly, His business acumen was immense and tempered with humility and understanding. He was a terrific mentor and he will be sorely missed. Our sincere sympathies and condolences to Diane , Greg and the family - Jon and Cathy

So saddened to hear of Al's passing. I have numerous memories of our time together working at Sperry / Unisys. Al always referred to me as his " pardner " which I really appreciated. Trips down East were always enjoyable knowing you would be meeting up with Al. He will be sorely missed. RIP Al.

So many fond memories of fun in Glen Margaret in our early days in Nova Scotia and work gatherings throughout the years with Sperry/Univac. I am sure Al and Ian will raise a glass together. My sincere condolences to you, Diane, and the whole family.

Allan was a good friend and usher at my wedding at Peggy's Cove on August 3rd, 1968. He and I worked together in the Computer Department for the Province of Nova Scotia. We used to play shuffleboard during our "extended" Friday lunch breaks. We lost touch when I moved to Ontario, then back to the UK; however, we did meet at his home on one of my many visits back to Nova Scotia, before I moved permanently back in retirement. I will always remember him as a friendly and fun loving guy. My condolences to his family.
- Tony Morris
