Obituary For Bradley James Haworth

HAWORTH, Bradley James Age 59, of Waverley, passed away at home on April 2, 2020, with his wife and family by his side after a short battle with cancer.

Born in Toronto to the late Richard James and Yvonne (Aspinall) Haworth, he will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years Ingrid (Unruh), daughters Sarah (Brett Barwick), Rebecca (Kit Moran) and Victoria. He also leaves to mourn his mother Lillie (Sherwood) Haworth, Grimsby, ON; brother Richard (Andrea, nephews Ross and Cameron), Invermere, BC; Jeffrey (Kim) Codrington, ON; mother-in-law Anne Unruh, Vineland, ON; brother-in-law Ervin Unruh, Vineland, ON. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in April.

A graduate of the University of Guelph, BSc. 83 (Microbiology), Brad enjoyed a 30-year career with UFL and Newly Weds Foods. He was well respected in the food ingredient and food development industry where he made many life-long friends. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed collecting antiques, publishing “The Maritime Antique Dealers’ Directory” for many years and restoring vintage lighting. His proudest achievements, however, were his three daughters. He found joy in sharing his vast knowledge with them, coaching their Ringette teams, cheering for them on the sidelines of the many sports they participated in and watching them succeed academically and in their careers.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration to honour his life and his memory will be held at a later date. If desired, donations in his memory can be made to KidSport Nova Scotia, SPCA, or Beacon House, Lower Sackville.

Condolences

Only recently became aware of Brad's passing, other than to offer belated condolences, wanted to share gratitude for his wisdom, thoughtful consideration and amazing devotion to his family and business associates. Whenever we conversed, it was always with sincerity and well meaning as well as perhaps latest update on family events. Remain grateful for his business advice and perspective. If memorial service yet to occur, would like to attend. Sincerely, Tom Murdoch

My sincere sympathy to Brad's family. I worked with Brad for 20 years out of the Chicago office and although business was the reason for our discussions or travels, his family was always the first topic to be discussed. He loved to talk about his children and was proud to deliver Ingrid's bakery goods to them when he could. He will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.

To Ingrid and Family, my sincerest condolences. I received notice of Brad's passing over the weekend and am only now able to compose something. I have many fond memories of the numerous biking, fishing, hiking, backpacking and climbing trips that Brad, Ken B. and myself did in Ontario, and BC. They were great adventures, ones that I will never forget. We also had a lot of fun and rowdy times with Dwayne M., Ken B., and myself in high school. He was well liked by whomever he met. May he rest in peace and my thoughts are with all of you. He will be missed.

To Ingrid , Sarah, Rebecca and Victoria, my sincere condolences. I received the notification from a mutual friend to Brad and myself (Steve M.). At that moment I lost a little bit of my youth. So many memories of having Brad as a friend for life. This started back in high school with outdoor adventures. This led to 26 days of the Canadian Outward Bound Mountaineering School for Brad, Steve and me in the mountains of western Canada in 1978. More recently visiting in Nova Scotia and here in Calgary I was hoping this was the start of reconnecting. I live in the country now in Western Canada and went for a long walk today (April 12) during a spring snowstorm to think of Brad. This loss will take some time to register for all of us. But know that my thoughts are with all of you at this very difficult time.

It is with profound sadness from myself and my two daughters, Madison & Eden, to learn of Brad's passing. When we were neighbours and our daughters would play, it was clear his daughters had a great father and one that would do anything for them. Brad and I would often chat about our daughters and I can only imagine the sorrow his family now feels for loosing such great person, loving father and husband. RIP Brad, and all our love and prayers for Ingrid, Sarah, Rebecca and Victoria.
