Obituary For Claude Lane

Claude Lane age 75 of Dartmouth formally of Summerville Nfld passed away suddenly at home December 15,2017 . Born in Summerville he was the son of the late William and Martha (Humby) Lane. He was a father, a teacher, a wood craftsman, and previous to his retirement in 1997 he had a 34 year career based in Labrador City where he worked at the Iron Ore Company of Canada as a certified Millwright. Claude was an out-doors enthusiast who loved to hunt and fish often speaking in admiration of the Caribou migration. He most loved to be on the water in his boat. A day in Summerville would entail the (quad to the boat- boat to the water - spray to the face - turrs to be had- cod to be jigged- tongues to be fried- "yes my son" that would be a lovely morning). He enjoyed telling how he navigated the lakes of Labrador city to get to his camp and hunting spots. Claude loved to receive chocolate in any quantity and was known for his quick wit, always having a joke to share with the group. Their laughter would bring about that twinkle in his eye . We will all deeply miss the (clinkity- clinkity - clink) on that morning mug of Nescafe. Claude is survived by his wife Muriel Lane (Holly),daughters Kimberly (Michael) Murphy Owen Sound ON, Karen Budden (Brant Frenette) Dartmouth NS. Karol (Dwight) Locke Labrador City, sons Desmond (Mandy) Lane Cornwall On, Darren Budden Miami Fla. Claude loved and spoke adoringly of all his surviving grandchildren Kara Budden (Karol) Calgary AB, Jordon and Nicholas Murphy (Kimberly) of Owen Sound ON ,Devon, Halley, Sam, and Cassidy Lane of Cornwall ON (Desmond) ,Carissa and Brina Frenette (Nick Soh) of Halifax NS He is survived by his brother Rex (Shirley)Lane of Mill Cove NS , sister in law Mary-Jane Lane ST Johns NL, sister in law May Lane Labrador City. He is survived by nieces and nephews Lisa Lane, Derick Lane, (Rex) , Gloria Lane David Lane (Namon), Tamela Lane ,Trevor Lane (Melvin), Gloria Lane ,Kevin Lane (George), He was predeceased by his brothers Namon (son Bert) Lane , Melvin Lane, George and (Winifred) Lane. It was Claude's wish to be cremated which has taken place interment to take place at a later date. A church service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm December 19 at Woodlawn United Church 54 Woodlawn Rd Dartmouth NS. On line condolences can be sent to http://donaldwalker.ca/obituaries.     Dear Muriel & family, we were so sorry to hear of Claude's passing, I know we didn't see each other very often but he was one of my cousins. Claude's Dad was my Great-Uncle, he & my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Lane Goodyear were sister & brother. God bless you all. Linda & Wayne Ryan Norris Arm, NL.

    Muriel and family; I know the heartache and loss you are experiencing at this time and pray that your strength together will help you at this time. The past few days I,ve been thinking of the amusing things that happened to us as we worked at our little jobs and Claude,s jokes. Take care of each other, God bless
