Obituary For Daniel "Danny" Stanley Harold MacDougall

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Daniel ‘Danny’ Stanley Harold MacDougall. Danny passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on the 5th of December 2019.

All who knew Danny knew him to always have a smile on his face and a story to tell. He drove Taxi number 986 for Armdale Taxi for over 30 years. Danny was a devoted legion member and could often be found at Branch #152 in Spryfield, shooting a game of pool, throwing a dart or volunteering his time, including Vice President for over 8 years.

Danny was the eldest son to the late Stanley and Gloria (Boutilier) MacDougall of Herring Cove.

Danny will forever be remembered by his devoted partner Darlene Murphy. He was a loving father to Matthew (Amy) MacDougall and Heather (James) Donnelly. He is also remembered by their Mother Deb MacDougall. Danny was a cherished Grampy to Michael, Kinleigh, Ruby, Jack, Barrett and Jordan.

Danny is survived by his brother Gary ‘Bunky’ (Christine) MacDougall and sisters Terry Hynes and Kathy (Greg) Reinhardt, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on December 11th at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 152, located at 7 Sussex St. Halifax. A private burial will take place on a later date. The family asks for donations to be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association.

Condolences

Though I hadn't seen Danny for years, I do remember him with a smile on his face. He always joked with me when I delivered the Mail Star to Stan and Gloria all those eons ago, especially if Gloria had sent him to the door on collection day with my money! My condolences to the entire MacDougall clan...

Danny was and will always be one of my favorite people. I always loved his stories, his jokes and his ability to somehow get everyone in the room going all at once. He always had a smile on his face, and made sure that he went out of his way to say hello to every one. He spent most of the time taking about his family, and how proud he was of them. He will be missed on Sunday night pool, it won’t be the same without him.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire MacDougall family. Danny was one of the good guys always displaying a positive attitude despite any challenge. I had the honour of knowing Danny in the 70's when we enjoyed many, many incredible good times together and we became great friends in a short period. In fact, I was honoured to have Danny stand as one of my groomsmen in '74. He will be missed but I pray his fond memories will give everyone comfort and renewed strength.
