Hanna Botros Louka– October 13th 2019

After a brief but valiant struggle with cancer, Mr. Hanna Louka passed away on Sunday October 13th 2019, his 84th birthday, at the Halifax Infirmary with his family at his bedside. Hanna was born on October 13th 1935 in Cairo, Egypt and was the third of seven children born to the late Botros Louka, a local businessman, and his late mother Balsam Isaac. He was predeceased by his late brothers Gamil and Louka Botros Louka and his sister Eugenie Botros Louka. He was also the brother of Nadia, Michel and Ragaa Botros Louka, who currently reside in Cairo, Egypt. Hanna’s father passed away in 1971 and his elder brothers passed away in 1951 and 1981 respectively. His mother and sister both passed away in 2008. Since his father’s death, Hanna always did his best to be there for his siblings throughout. Hanna graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Ain Shams University in 1958. He briefly pursued a career in optometry before creating his own medical supplies company. In 1976, Hanna married Mofida Ghaly and later had two children Rania (Fady) and Reham, who was consecrated as Nun Gabriella at the convent of St. George, Old Cairo, Egypt by His Holiness Pope Tawadrous II then moved to St. George’s abbey in Ireland under His Grace Bishop Antony to establish monastic life in the first Coptic Orthodox abbey in Europe. He was also the Godfather of Rania Doss, now consecrated as Nun Philomena, also at St. George’s Abbey in Ireland. In April 2017, Hanna immigrated to Canada with his wife Mofida ‘Didi’ Ghaly, to enjoy the company of his grandchildren, Anthony and Juliana Marie. Hanna’s greatest life achievement was the love he shared with his family. He was a loving husband, a caring father, a kind grandfather and a role model for many others. Hanna will be remembered as a faithful man of prayer. He enjoyed spending time daily in prayer, reading the ‘Agpeya’, the Coptic book of the hours, comprised of Psalms and Gospels. Even in his time of sickness, many around witnessed the tranquility and peace which emanated from him. He passed away peacefully on Sunday October 13th 2019.

الأستاذ حنا بطرس لوقا ١٣ أكتوبر ١٩٣٥ - ١٣ أكتوبر ٢٠١٩

بعد صراع قصير و شجاع مع مرض السرطان ، توفي الأستاذ حنا في يوم الأحد 13 أكتوبر 2019 الموافق لعيد ميلاده الأربعة والثمانون، في مستشفى هاليفاكس مع أسرته بجانبه. ولد حنا في ١٣ أكتوبر ١٩٣٥ في القاهرة، وكان الثالث من بين سبعة أطفال ولدوا للراحل بطرس لوقا والراحلة بلسم إسحق. وكانا شقيقيه الأكبر الراحل جميل ولوقا وشقيقته الراحلة أوجيني بطرس لوقا. حنا شقيق كلًا من نادية وميشيل ورجاء بطرس لوقا، المقيمين في القاهرة حاليًا. توفى والد حنا عام ١٩٧١ وشقيقيه الأكبر في عامي١٩٥١ و١٩٨١ بالتوالي ووالدته وشقيقته عام ٢٠٠٨. ودأب حنا، منذ وفاة والده، على بذل قصارى جهده ليكون أبًا وأخًا كبيرًا لإخوته ولأخواته. وحصل حنا على بكالوريوس العلوم في الفيزياء والرياضيات من جامعة عين شمس في عام ١٩٥٨. وتابع لفترة وجيزة حياته المهنية في مجال البصريات قبل أن يبدأ شركته الخاصة في مجال الأجهزة الطبية. في عام ١٩٧٦، تزوج حنا من مفيدة غالي وأنجبا طفلتان، الصيدلانية رانيا )زوجة الصيدلي فادي فلتس( وريهام، التي رُسمت بإسم الراهبة جابريلا بدير مارجرجس للراهبات بمصر القديمة على يد قداسة البابا الأنبا تواضروس الثاني وسافرت لتأسيس الحياة الرهبانية بأول دير للراهبات للأقباط الأرثوذكس، دير مارجرجس للراهبات بايرلندا التابع لنيافة الأنبا أنتوني. كان أيضًا بمثابة أبًا لرانيا دوس، الآن الراهبة فيلومينا، أيضًا في دير مارجرجس للراهبات بايرلندا. هاجر حنا مع زوجته مفيده غالي إلى كندا في أبريل ٢٠١٧ للاستمتاع بصحبة أحفادهما، أنتوني وجوليانا ماري. كان أعظم إنجازات حنا هو الحب الذي شاركه مع أسرته. لقد كان زوجًا محبًا ، وأبًا حاضرًا ، وجدًا لطيفًا ، وقدوة لكثير من الآخرين. حنا كان رجلا مخلصا لحياة الصلاة. كان يستمتع بصلاة الأجبية يوميا. حتى في أوقات المرض ، شهد الكثيرون من حوله الهدوء والسلام الذي انبثق منه. وافته المنية بسلام يوم الأحد 13 أكتوبر 2019 في وقت مليء برسائل التعزية السمائية و برهبة شهدها جميع الحاضرين.
