Obituary For Katherine "Kathy" Lynne Gough

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kathy, age 60. Born and raised in Halifax. As a teenager Kathy was an accomplished gymnast. She later graduated from the Technical Institute and went on to work as a Lab Technician at the IWK for 37 years. She mentored many young professionals coming into the hospital. Numerous tributes coming from her co-workers spoke highly of her and the legacy she left behind. She was affectionately known as the “little chatty one”. She was a proud Hockey mom with the loudest whistle at the game. She made many lasting friendships at the rink. She was an avid gardener, loved family vacations to PEI and spending time outdoors. She enjoyed retirement and made friends everywhere she went. Kathy was ever the host and especially delighted to have the family over for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

Kathy was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Dooks) Hoskin. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Blair, sons Robert (Bonnie), Halifax; and Michael, Calgary. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Layla, Carter and Mason. She is also survived by her siblings Diane (Ramsey) Fredericton; Patty (Hoskin) Lakeview; David (Hoskin) Halifax; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy was known for her big heart, warm smile and the ability to talk to anyone. Her family always came first and she will forever be missed. A celebration of life will take place Friday February 9th, 11am at St Francis by the Lakes, 192 First Lake Dr., in Lower Sackville with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

She may have been small, but she loved big.

Former neighbour, on George Dauphinee Ave. Cathy, when a little girl, would come over to see my dad Mr. Gordon. That is what she called him. Cathy had a pretend pet. Dad would talk to her and her " pet". My love and prayers to you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I worked with Kathy when I worked in the provincial blood program. She was a great tech and a wonderful person. May you find comfort in your memories of her. Peggy Wilson RN ( ret)
