Obituary For Ruby J. Gosbee

We are happy to announce that Heaven got another angel, yet saddened that it was out mother, Ruby J. Gosbee of Eastern Passage got her wings.

She lived with the belief that when she meets her Creator she would be reunited with family and friends who ascended before her, and once again take them under her wing, and on August 2nd, 2019 she did.

She was the daughter of the late Esson and Elva Hilchie, of Pleasant Harbour.

Mum left her "little home" and one room school in Pleasant Harbour in the summer of 1948 and moved to Guysborough, where, while working at the Grant Hotel she was to meet a tall lanky 16 year old boy from nearby Cooks Cove. She fell in love with that tall boy and in the summer of 1953, married him.

One of Mom's greatest joys, next to her loved ones was her love for camping. With the kids cleaned, the car packed and the trailer hooked up, we travelled throughout the Maritimes making more friends to last a lifetime.

Left to mourn is the love of her life and husband of 66 years, Victor. Children: Viola (Phil), Wanda (Dan), Susan (Joe), Bonny (Robert), Allen (Tammy), 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren and 19 Great-great grandchildren, as well as the other children who were blessed to have called her Mom. Siblings: Leah, Erma, Hazel, Betty, Ronald, Shirley (Doug), Foster "Buster" Betty and sister-in-law Mildred. Predeceased by siblings, Avon, Bobby and Eva. Cremation has taken place. Service will be 2PM Friday, August 9 at Cole Harbour Woodside United Church, 15 Bissett Road, Cole Harbour. A light lunch will follow in the church hall afterwards. Interment at a later date.

So sad to hear of Ruby’s passing, you are all in my prayers. Although I only knew Ruby for a few days, I was fortunate to witness how much everyone loved this sweet little lady, and in this short time Ruby actually stole a little piece of my heart too. Love lives on. Thank you Ruby, for our time together xo. Heart in hand ...Lauren ♥️

I've known sweet Ruby for many years mostly through the Seniors Club! She always had a smile on and a good sense of humor! She was a good sport and bubbly! May she R.I.P. as an angel to watch out over us! Blessings to her family and friends! Brenda MacNeill

It is said that you should always help out a stranger, for you never know when you are helping out an Angel. Ruby lived that mantra, and helped out many from her own family, as well as the friends of her children who had no place to go to get a hot meal or a warm bed. You would never leave her home without a good nights sleep, a hot breakfast, and your face washed, as well as a cheerful "have a good day". For that, she is now in Heaven wearing her own wings. I am one of the many she helped along the way, so I thank you for all you have done for me.
