LEYDON, Shirley Edith, 86, died peacefully at home in Dartmouth on February 10, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Wolfville, Shirley was the daughter of W. DeLancey and Gladys (Hubley) Mason. After graduation from Kings County Academy in Kentville, Shirley completed nursing school at the Halifax Infirmary. As an RN she worked for the VON in Halifax and in hospitals in Halifax, Dartmouth, Corner Brook, NL and Saint John, N.B.

Shirley’s life focused on friends, family and work. She was a loving wife and mother, devoted to her family and at the centre of their lives. At work, she was a tirelessly dedicated nurse who always put the needs of her patients ahead of her own. Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Paul; sons Sean and Kevin and brother, William Mason. She is survived by daughter Kelly, Dartmouth; son Kerry (Rosemary Fraser), Blockhouse; daughter-in-law Mary Lee Wegner, Los Angeles; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes no service will be held.
