Obituary For Chester Julian

Chester Julian passed away at the age of 91 on December 17, 2023.

Dad was the son of the late Inez (Druce) and John Julian of Halifax.

Dad was proud to be a Halifax stevadore and gantry crane operator with the Halifax Container Pier for over 40 years and a proud member of the International Longshoreman Association local 269.

Dad loved being outdoors puttering around in the yard, fishing and in the earlier years hunting and long drives. Dad would do anything for anybody and did not expect anything in return. Dad called everyone "Darlin" it didn't make any difference who they were. Everyone loved him and he them. He was the best dad and he will be sadly missed. Dad survived by his wife of 69 years Marie (Craig), son David of Moncton, daughter Cathy, son-in-law Brian of Dartmouth, three granddaughters, Laurel of Montréal, Amanda (Brent) of Calgary and Melissa (Matt) of Virginia,

and great grandson Rayne of Virginia and his brother-in-law who was more like a brother and best friend David Craig of Halifax. Dad was predeceased by sisters Marie, Rosy and Doris and by brothers Ray and Glenfield. I would like to say thank you to Dr Sonja Hanson and the nursing staff on 5west of the Dartmouth General Hospital for making dads final hours comfortable and to Dr David Bell in Halifax for treating dads cancer over the past couple of years. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Canadian Cancer Society or to the IWK Childrens Hospital. May you finally be at peace Papa. We love you.

So sorry for your loss Marie & family. Bill and Chester were such good friends in their younger years. I remember the story when they drove down from Ont. in a Model T and it took them four days. Also Chester always had the nicest cars. You could not help but like him. Take care. Sincerely Donna Stevens

Uncle Chester was my favorite uncle, he was kind, funny, and very giving of himself to anyone who knew him, and everyone he met, my dad(David) and Chester were not just brothers in law, they were best friends and real brothers, they loved fixing up houses and cottages, and they allowed me to help with almost everything, I learned so much from them both, Chester always made me feel loved and wanted, even when I ran his mini bike into his neighbour's foundation trying to learn to ride( and before I hit the wall, I drove under Chester's willow tree ,while he and dad were hanging onto back of bike) which caused them both to get caught in the giant hanging branches, and neither Chester or dad got mad,I love and miss so much uncle Chester, your niece, Dana xo

I remember Chester's smile and Marie always teasing him. I know from experience this will be a difficult time but with family support it will be a bit easier. Remember all the good times. Love Joe Ann (Vincent)
