Obituary For Wayne Gerald Pettipas

Wayne Gerald Pettipas ( aka “Bing”), 79, of East Chezzetcook passed peacefully on the morning of September 8th, 2020 at Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour after a long battle with Alzhiemers.

Wayne was born in East Chezzetcook on November 24th, 1940. He was the son of the late Ephriam Pettipas and Rita (Shackley) Pettipas. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of over thirty years, Kathy, his children, Rosemary, Christopher, Jimmy, David (Angela), Joey (Erica) and Holly (Patrick) who he loved dearly. Wayne is also survived by his siblings, Helen Embree, Jean Dixon (Ted), Lillian Thackeray, Ralph (Kelly), Joyce Griffin (Howard), Cyril (Kara) and Billy (Lorraine). Wayne will also be missed by his 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Judith Pettipas, infant siblings, Stella and Leo, son, Andrew, grandson, Justin Andrew Roma and son-in-law, Terry Roma.

Throughout his years, “Bing” had various careers beginning with work at Starr Manufacturing. He then worked at the Halifax Shipyards and ultimately pursued his passion for fishing even at one time becoming the President of the Eastern Shore Fishermen's Association.

Wayne was a craftsman in many areas and contributed to many special projects within the community throughout his years in Chezzetcook which included building the pleasure craft “Golden Dawn” along with his brother, Ralph, building the St. Genevieve’s Church Hall, Camp Brunswick and La Grange at the Acadian House Museum.

Wayne loved spending time with family including trips to Scotia Speedworld to watch his favourite #38 sportsman car, going on trips to Dairy Queen and bingo. In his recent years he also grew a love for fidget spinners, coloring and Clay Cafe.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his Harbourview Angels for their loving care and dedication to Wayne. A private service will be held at St. Genevieve’s Church officiated by Father Vincent for immediate family only due to COVID-19 on Saturday, September 12th.

In lieu of flowers, please take the time to appreciate the ones you love and hold them a little closer.
