Obituary For William (Bill) James Murray

It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” James Murray. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 1, 2025.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bill was a devoted and astounding husband, father, and grandfather. Bill worked as a pipe fitter at Irving Shipyards. He appreciated his job and the friends he made there.

Bill adored music; especially Phil Collins and Micheal Jackson. He also loved his whiskey, bowling, playing guitar and cheering on the Maple Leafs. You would catch Bill on his free time indulging in a baseball game routing for the Blue Jays.

We remember Bill by his generous and loving personality. He thought of everyone before himself and loved when everyone got together. He opened his home to everyone.

Bill is pre-deceased by his father William Murray Sr. and survived by his mother Barbara Murray and his wife Shirley Murray. He is also survived by his sister Kim (Blaine) White and brothers Tony (Tracy) Murray and David (Rhonda) Murray. Bill is also survived by his children, Brittany (Bobby) Delaney, Alicia (Shaun) Faulkner and Brandon Murray. Also, his 11 grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Shyla, Cayden, Callie, Mariah, Landen, Miley, Mckenna, Maci, Kara, Maddie and Rebecca. In addition, his cherished dog Toby.

Bill had a rare brain disease and made the admirable decision to donate his brain to science to potentially help others.

A service will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025, at Marine Drive Pentecostal Church, 8970 Highway 7, Musquodoboit Harbour, NS at 1 pm.

Celebration of life to follow at 8273 Highway 7, Musquodoboit Harbour, NS.

Rain date for both service and celebration of life will be held on August 2, 2025.

    Although we only knew Bill for a short time, we will cherish the moments where we were able to share music and chats with him and Shirley. Our prayers go out to all of his family. Rest in Peace, love Gloria and Cedric Richard

    SENDING MY DEEPRST CONDOLENCES TO SHIRLEY MURRAY , BRITTANY (BOBBY) , BRANDON .Alisha(Bub).Barbara Murray all .grandkids and friends. It's hard to believe that my nephew ( bro) is gone.Such a strong caring person with heart of gold. Gone to soon. Faught to the last minute battling the terrible decease. One that he certainly did not deserve. Bill and I had a lot of special moments from kids up till the end. I wish he was still here but I know he is not suffering now. Love and miss you forever Until we meet again

    Bill defines a true and caring friend. He took me to a fishing spot about 25 years ago where he fished with his father. I fish there every year with my wife. Always thinking of Bill.

    Bill took me to a fishing spot just after I met him about 25 years ago. It's the same spot Bill and his father fished. My wife and I fish there every year and always think of Bill. Bill was most certainly a TRUE and DEAR friend and a caring man.
