Obituary For Dr. Emmanuel Rick Odoom

Dr. Emmanuel Ricky Odoom, age 72, died peacefully at home on November 29, 2017, NS. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son Dominic (Martia); and his sister Regina Odoom (Ghana). He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers and a sister all of Ghana. Throughout his life he worked on many merchant ships as a Chief Engineer for over 20 years. In 2006, he accepted a position as a Marine Engineering Teacher at NSCC in Port Hawkesbury NS, where he worked for more than 10 years until his retirement. Ricky and was a content, caring man who was deeply involved in education for most of his life. His family and friends will always remember him as a gentle, generous, intelligent, and honest person. A funeral is scheduled for 11am on December 8, 2017, at Donald Walker Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Reverend Stewart Williams will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ricky’s life. The family would like to thank the Sparks family for their support. Donations can be sent

    Dear Pat and family - my deep and sincere condolences on the passing of such a gentle and lovely man. As you know, I have known Rick for many years and we had some great chats on our drives to CCEDP. Over the years, I had come to realize how fun and relaxing it was to talk to Rick and his intelligence/capabilities was evident in all he did. He will be missed.     Pat and Dominic, my deepest condolences on the passing of Rick. Whether it be in the library, at Sobeys or the Superstore, it was always a joy to stop and chat with Rick. He always greeted people with a smile on his face, a warm hug and a sincere interest with what people had to say. He will be missed by many, but will remain forever in our hearts. Pat, you are a very strong person and I pray you find this strength during this difficult time.

    Dear Pat and family, The NSCC community was saddened to hear of Rick's passing. Rick was a well respected Mariner and over the years he influenced a lot of students in the Marine Engineering program. Rick did great work for us in developing new Marine Engineering curriculum and programs that will go on for many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.
