Obituary For Marshall Leith Conrad

Marshall Leith Conrad, Age 79, passed away March 18th 2024, just shy of his 80th birthday after a long battle with respiratory disease. Born to the late Cameron and Frances “Frankie” Conrad, Marshall was born and raised in West Lawrencetown, but spent the last few years of his life living in Cole Harbour.

Marshall was a brick layer until retirement - building or supervising just about every brick building made in Nova Scotia, from the Halifax Infirmary to Acadia University. He proudly would recall how he taught himself to read blueprints for his jobs.

He was an avid handyman and putterer - and also extremely creative. He could build, create and fix just about anything and everything. He enjoyed all social aspects of his work too and remained the social butterfly his friends and family knew and loved until days before his passing.

In the last few years, Marshall spent many days in his sister Carol’s shed welding and making stone birds which he enjoyed selling in Eastern Passage and at the Lawrencetown Community Centre from the bed of his truck.

Marshall leaves behind a heartbroken bunch of family and friends. He is survived by daughter Sherry (Paul), son Glen (Victoria), wife (separated) Linda, granddaughters Meghan, Taylor, Jillian, Olivia and Sophia along with his sisters Irene and Carol, and his niece Karla, who always thought of Marshall as a father figure. He was predeceased by his brothers (Garnet, Roy and Butch) and his sisters (Marlene and twin Marion). He also leaves behind numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former colleagues.

Anyone who knew Marshall knew he was the kindest man in the world. He would do anything for anyone and never expect anything in return.

A special thank you to the staff of 3 West Dartmouth General for the care and compassion Marshall received this admission.

“Take care and stay safe!”

We love you to the moon and back.

Glen and family, sorry to learn of Marshall's passing. Glen told me many good times you had together including slinging bricks, fishing, and teaching Glen to drive. It's obvious Marshall was a hard worked, it rubbed off on his son in every way. Sincerely Glen Veinot
