Obituary For Richard Leeds

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle Ricky, age 67 at the QEII Infirmary. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Dorothy (Briand) and William Leeds. Ricky worked for the Halifax Shipyard for most of his adult life, retiring early due to poor health. Rickey was very interested in history and spent much of his time watching documentaries on TV. He also liked lots of sports especially tennis. Above all he had a great love for his family. He is survived by his sisters Donna O’Neill (Frank)and Jeanette Leeds and brother Robert Leeds Nieces and nephews, Cheryl Leeds, who was his main caregiver and was always there for him, Philip Shea, Nicole Maurice (Jody), Jason Stothart(Deb),Natasha Russell, Ryan Leeds (who he fondly referred to as his son) Amanda and Jessica Richard-Shea, Samantha Shea, Emily Nauffts and Carter Maurice, GG niece Alaina. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Randy, sister Carol Stothart (Bill) and nephew Shawn Stothart. I would like to add a special thank you to Wayne Moultan who has not only been at our call over the past 2 weeks but has, along with Cheryl, been catering to most of Ricky’s needs. In keeping with Ricky’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. The family is planning an informal celebration of life (date to be posted later) and a graveside service in the spring.

So very sorry to hear of a long time friends passing. Met Rick over fifty years ago when the Leeds’s moved to Woodill Street. We spent many a day hanging out there and I am sure we drove his poor Mom crazy. Have run into Rick a few times over the years and enjoyed many a dance with him at the Red Fox. Sorry I let too much time pass and have lost my chance. Rest In Peace old friend. Shelley

so sorry to hear of Ricky's passing. We spent many a sunny Saturday watching star Treck at his moms place across from the commons. I always wondered how his mom put up with us. Although we drifted apart over the years we would often think of those days and have a good laugh. RIP Ricky. Danny and Linda Johnson
