Obituary For Kenneth George Hum

It is with sadness that we announce that Kenneth George “Kenny” Hum passed away at home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on February 22, 2026.

Born in Halifax in October 1948, Kenny worked for many years as a chef at the Garden View Restaurant on Spring Garden Road and later at the Canadiana Restaurant in Bayers Lake, before retiring.

He married Carol Marie (Spears) Hum, and they shared more than 30 years together and were inseparable.

Kenny, known as “Partner” by the grandchildren, is survived by his wife Carol Marie (Spears) Hum; stepdaughters Arlene Quintyne (Fong) and Sarah Fong (Billy Savary); step-grandchildren Chynna and Nicholas, Ryan and Rachel; step-great-granddaughter Jada; and siblings Leonard and Vivian Thibeault, David, Norman, Shirley (Bruce) Crowe, Marie and Andy Desrochers, and Helen (Gordon) Oakley.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Annie (Thibeault) Hum, and siblings Leo, Patrick, Roy, Bruce, and Darlene.

In keeping with Kenny’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

    Condolences to the family of the late kennie hum I had many great times with kennie over the years and it was a honor to be his best man at his wedding spent time fixing his snow blower after times while having many laughs together our recent visit was last fall. While they were here for the day of having some music and food together .with his wife Carol ,rest in peace my friend until we meet again.God Bless Allie and Karen MacNeil.
