Obituary For JoAnne Elizabeth Morine (Drake)

JoAnne Elizabeth Morine (Drake) - Eastern Passage, age 79

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of JoAnne after a long battle with Heart & Kidney failure on August 4, 2026 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.

JoAnne was a loving mother, raising 3 children by herself, a grandmother and a great grandmother.

JoAnne loved bowling, reading, window shopping and watching her favorite TV channels, The Weather Network and ATV'S Evening News.

She loved looking after her grandchildren and taken them everywhere by bus, swimming at McCormick's Beach, Museums, Libraries and of course the big thrill for all children, rides on the Halifax Ferries. She loved every moment that she had with all of her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy.

JoAnne worked at many jobs, Sea Breeze Tavern with her father Ducky Drake, cooking until it closed then she started working at the Dartmouth General Hospital Kitchen, for over 30 years until her early retirement in 2005.

JoAnne is survived by her children, Floyd Jr (Tammy), Donald and Sherri Cochrane (Todd). Grandchildren Floyd, Craig, Kendra (Justyn) and Nathan. Great Grandchildren Aaron, Mya, Aaliyah and Tessa. Many nieces and nephews.

JoAnne is the last surviving member of her immediate family, predeceased by her father Walter Sinclair Drake (Ducky), 1st Mother Elizabeth Drake (Roscoe) , 2nd Mother Margaret (Peggy) Drake (Lively). Brothers Walter (Wally) (Linda), Wayne and Freddy, ex-husband Floyd Morine

Cremation has taken place; burial will be held at a later date.
