Obituary For Maxine Barbra Veitch

Maxine Barbra Veitch passed peacefully, surrounded by family on December 18, 2025.

Maxine was born in Lushes Bight, Long Island, Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her parents, Gloss and Meta Rowbottom, and by her brother, Kayward Rowbottom.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Brian Veitch; her sons, Jason and Danny Veitch; and her daughter, Jennifer Veitch. She was a proud grandmother to Brooklyn, Bentley, Jaxson, and Madison, who were the greatest joys of her life. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Felisha and Jennifer; son-in-law, Jake; her nephews, Michael and Tyler; and her niece, Sherra Rowbottom.

Maxine worked for 22 years at the Mic Mac Beverage Room and was also employed at Scotsburn Dairy and Atlantic Superstore. She was a hardworking, caring, thoughtful, and selfless woman, qualities that showed in the way she carried herself throughout her life.

Maxine and Brian were long-time residents of Lake Echo, where they raised their family and formed many lifelong friendships. Maxine was a wonderful mother who deeply loved her children, and a devoted grandmother who took immense pride in her grandchildren. Her love for them was evident in the way she spoke of and cared for them.

In the final years of her life, Maxine was fortunate to be surrounded by friends and family and to receive compassionate care from the wonderful staff at Twin Oaks and the Admiral Long Term Care Home.

Maxine would want others to carry a part of her with them. She was known for her big heart and carefree outlook on life, and for her natural instinct to protect and care for those she loved. She was always there to listen with a non-judgmental ear, to love with a pure heart, to fill your body with a home-cooked meal, and to help you see the light in the darkness. She supported and guided others with kind words, always staying true to her Newfie roots.

Donations may be made in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Autism Nova Scotia.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date .
