Obituary For Elizabeth Ellen Whittaker

Whittaker, Elizabeth Ellen;

Bette passed on Tuesday October 4th, 2022 at the age of 67.

She spent her life caring for her children despite the extremely difficult times she faced when they were small. She did all that she had to in order to make sure that Adam and Missy were cared for and had the best life possible.

She spent her life working at Dalhousie University.

Her life and the lives of her children completely changed when she fell in love with her best friend and love of her life Garth Whittaker who passed July 3rd, 2011.

Bette knew how to party and touched the lives of all that knew her. She always told it like it was and never held back. She had a great sense of humour and the biggest heart.

Her husband, children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she did everything for them all without hesitation.

She was so strong inside and out and a beautiful soul to be admired.

Her jokes, her smile, her laugh and her bluntness will live on in so many and continue to bring the best memories and stories to tell until the end of time.

She will live on and be loved, missed and remembered by all that knew her.

    Condolences to the family

    My sincere condolences to all the family but especially to Missy and Adam. I was always hoping that once the pandemic settled, I would get to visit Bette again but unfortunately, it was not to be. We had many good times both while working at Dalhousie and also as friends outside of work for a season of our lives. I remember her showing me how to make the best fish cakes one day at my home. She was a great cook! She made sacrifices to make sure her children had the best life that she could provide and also loved her grandchildren dearly as they loved her. That is what I know as a mom was the best gift she could have received, your love for her. Thinking of you as you now grieve her loss 🙏❤️

    Couldn't have had a better neighbour than Bette. I remember her giving my grandson extra treats at Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Bette had a great sense of humour and loved to sit around the fire with a few drinks. Bette will be sadly missed. Will always remember your kindness.
