Obituaries

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Currie of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, at the age of 76, after a brief illness.

Mary was the daughter of the late Mildred Currie (nee Colbert) and Patrick Currie and one of 12 siblings. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Patrick, and sisters Patricia, Donna, and Joyce. Her family loved Mary deeply, and she spent the last 29 years being cared for by her sister Connie and brother-in-law Jamie. She was an aunt and great-aunt to many adoring nieces and nephews and never forgot any of their birthdays or ages. She is survived by her sisters, Connie (Jamie), Susan (Dennis), Marilyn (Paul), Nancy, and Margaret (Robert), and her brother, Donnie.

Mary loved wrestling, colouring, the Toronto Maple Leafs, watching movies, and her family. She loved the holidays and always ensured she had her themed clothes ready for each event. Mary enjoyed having people around and loved it when her nephews and nieces watched TV with her in her room.

Mary meant so much to her family and her presence will be deeply missed. Her infectious laugh, her “Hello, Lovey” when you arrived, and her appreciation of a good cup of tea are just some of the many little things that made up a life with Mary that we will never forget. She was kind, thoughtful, and had the purest heart.

A huge thank you to EHS, the fire department, and the amazing staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital for providing the utmost care and compassion to both Mary and the family at this difficult time.
