Obituary For Dianne Elizabeth Brown (Hinks)

It is with great sadness and cherished memories that the family of Dianne Brown (68) announce her passing on October 22nd, 2026.

Dianne Elizabeth Brown (Hinks), of Bedford, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully after a long illness with her husband at her side.

Born in May 1958 to William and Elizabeth (Betty) Hinks, Dianne was the youngest of 3 children. She grew up at 5 Boyd Avenue in a little house, on a tree-lined street in the historic neighborhood of Weston, Toronto. She attended and graduated from Weston Collegiate High School.

In 1975, at the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Jim Brown. They were married August 12th, 1978 at Westminster United Church beginning 48 years of marriage devoted to one another and the family they built together.

Dianne and Jim raised 4 loving children. The early years were spent in various houses around Toronto until the family packed up and moved to Bedford, Nova Scotia in 1993.

Being a mother to her children was at the heart of Dianne's life. She was always there to help in any way she could. She gave all her time and love generously, whether that meant being a taxi service or a personal chef. Her caring spirit extended to her children's friends, who were always welcome in her home. Everyday acts of love brought her the greatest happiness.

Spending time with family is what always was most important to Dianne. From Christmas Eves, Easter, to Thanksgiving, these were moments to shine and were so dear to her. It was a chance to gather everyone around her table and make them feel loved. Her abilities in the kitchen remain unmatched and the level of care she put into those gatherings were what made those occasions so special. Those times will be missed by all who had the pleasure of being at her table. Her passion in life was always her family. Being the best mom and the most wonderful grandmother meant the world to her.

Dianne will be deeply missed in the everyday moments, the family celebrations and around the table where she brought us all together. Her family will carry on her memory in the meals they share and the traditions they continue like the "Mystery Gift". Her legacy will be honored in the care that they show one another.

Dianne is survived by her husband, Jim Brown, and their children Ryan, Craig (Michelle), Kyle (Allison), and Ashlee (Andrew); her grandchildren, Autumn, Stanley, William, Meadow and Rosalee; her sister Myra Cousineau (Ron) and family; brother John Hinks (Ellen) and family.

A celebration of Dianne's life will be held at the little Tin Roof building, November 6th, from 3pm-7pm with her family located at 6321, Hwy 7, Head of Chezzetcook, B0J 2L0.

Those wishing to honor Dianne, the family suggests donations to me made to the SPCA in memory of Dianne Brown for her love of animals. Donations can be made directly to the web site at novascotiaspca.ca
