Obituary For Andrew David Ward

Today we say goodbye to our beloved son and dearest brother Andy. Many would say he was a very caring, gentle, generous, and loving person.

He loved animals, loved to cook holiday dinners, loved his chocolate, chips, carrots and lottery tickets. He was a protector who took care of his mother sister who he deeply loved. He was very witty, pleasant to be around and the first one to cover someone’s shift at work. Loved sunset walks on the beach or sitting home playing computer games and drinking beer.

If you met him, you loved him. Simple as that.

The world will miss this star that lite up peoples lives

The funeral will take place the 19 of October at 50 Wentworth st at 11:00 am

On behalf of my brother Tim Crandall and myself I would like to send our deepest sympathy to Toby and Andy's Mother. Tim and Andy worked together and became like brothers over 20 some years they knew each other as well as my brothers best friend. He is truly heart broken for this loss.

It was with incredible sadness that we heard of Andy's passing. A close friend to the entire Johnston family since we came home in 1981, Andy could always be counted on for a smile and a quick, very sarcastic joke. He taught me more about cooking than I will ever remember, and it was an honour to work with him and know him. When he became a commissionaire, I would run into him in the dockyard and Shearwater, and always have a great chat. The entire Johnston family is saddened for your loss. Pro Patria, (For Country), Major David H Johnston, CD1, BMASC, RMC.

My sincerest condolences. I've known Andy for the better part of my life. He was a friend of my father Bill and father in law Rick. He worked with my husband for a time at the copper penny and helped us organize our wedding rehearsal dinner. I will always remember that smile and how kind he was. Memories of him at my Moms place hanging out with the boys. Rest easy Andy you will be missed.
