Obituary For Anne Bell

Anne Bell, Age 97, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. She was a remarkable woman and will be fondly remembered by so many people. Mom had a long and productive life. She was a lady of many talents which included sewing, knitting, cooking, rughooking, quilting, gardening, raising 8 children, organizing a ladies Bible study, doing crosswords and Wordle, and authoring a book. She loved spending time with her family playing games, visiting, having dinner and she had such a wonderful hearty laugh.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Donna Lynn Power, Joanne Wells, Pamela Boyde, Stephen Bell, Valerie Allen, Robert Bell, Christopher Bell, her 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, and her brother Ron Harris. She was predeceased by her husband Sheldon, and her son George.

She had a wonderful last summer at her cottage in PEI surrounded by family and friends. Mom touched the lives of so many people, and we will miss her so very much, but we are content knowing she is with the Lord.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held at Grace Chapel, 255 Ross Street, Halifax, on Saturday November 15 at 10:30 am. Donations may be made to Halifax Hospice at hospicehalifax.ca.

The funeral will be live-streamed here:

Ann was a warm-hearted person who loved helping others. As an international student, I was fortunate that the International Student Association paired her with me as my tutor. Not only did she teach me English, but she also showed me around, took me shopping, and often brought me food, helping me feel less homesick during a difficult transition. Over time, we became close friends and have stayed in touch ever since. I will always remember her kindness and generosity—and I will always miss her.
