Obituary For Dail Franklyn Millett

Dail Franklyn Millett, Age 91, Mahone Bay

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dail Millett, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather on Saturday May 2nd. Dail passed away peacefully in Mahone with his loving wife by his side. Born in Lunenburg he was the son of the late Mamie (Young) and Ward Millett. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Ann Millett, Children Peter (Carole lee) Millett, Lisa (Randy) Stevens, John (Dawn) Millett, cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Hartwell, Mitchell, Katie, Julia and Mathew.

Dail had a wonderful 64 years with his wife Marilyn. He enjoyed spending precious time with his family, boating on the Foinst Koind, building things in his workshop, and working outside on his tractor. How he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.

I remember Dail from my earliest days. The Millet family were neighbours with my grandparents. Dail was a role model and incredibly patient man with us children. He had a heart of gold and taught us to enjoy the sea. We spent many days on the Foinst Kind travelling around Mahone Bay. Dail was larger than life and he was always so thoughtful and interesting. He had much to teach. Marilyn, Peter, Lisa and John, we grieve with you but if I ever wanted to live a life, it would be Dail's. Such an amazing man.

So many memories of summers on the water, boats rafted together, excursions to shore. It seems like yesterday and it seems like forever ago. Sending love to Marilyn and all the family.

Marilyn, Peter, Lisa, and John - so sorry to hear the passing of Dail. I have many memories of Dail from over the years, many of them when our boats were tied up together somewhere off of Mahone Bay. May you find some comfort in the many memories and stories you all share. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Dail was a valued member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. I remember inspecting the Foinst Koind one day and asked Dail "How you do pronounce that?" In his beautiful Lunenburg accent he replied "Just way I say it." He was right, of course. A wonderful man.
