Obituary For Darlene M Walker

True to her nursing roots, Darlene M. Walker always had a generous heart, and was eager to help anyone in need. Such is the legacy she leaves with all who knew her, were close to her, and were saddened by the news of her passing on June 4th after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Chester, she attended Chester Basin Elementary School and Chester High School, before going on to study at the V.G. School Of Nursing, and graduating as an RN. Upon completion of her studies, she worked at Shoreham Village Guest Home and several hospitals. When not tending to the profession she loved, Darlene indulged in the simple pleasures of life, travelling and taking “little adventures” with Donna – her loving wife of over 20 years. She was also a lover of cats and all animals, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her many pets over the years.

Darlene died peacefully at home. She is predeceased by her parents, Lloyd Walker and Catherine (Chandler) Walker, wife Donna, devoted pet Blackie, Sharon and Brady Hennigar and boys, and numerous cousins and loving and loyal friends.

In her remembrance, there will be a Celebration Of Life at the Chester Basin Legion on June 22nd (2-4pm), with further info to be announced. Memorial donations can be made to Shaide Animal Shelter or Shoreham Village Guest Home

Dear Donna, All my heartfelt sympathy. I met Darlene a long time ago, when we were both nursing. I loved her caring disposition, and her humor! She had such a great big heart. And though I am sure it pained her to leave you, she now has comfort. Take care of yourself, cherish the memories and know she watches over you. Mariette

Dear Donna & Family, Having known of Darlene's courageous battle with health issues; didn't make it any easier to learn of her passing. Darlene is remembered for being a caring and wonderful person. We will not forget moving in as your new neighbours on a muggy day in June so long ago. A knock came to our door and two young women were presenting us with "cold refreshing drinks." This act of genuine kindness was the beginning of a lasting friendship. The obituary tells so much about this wonderful person who we shall miss seeing. Darlene's presence however, will live in our hearts and minds. Many splendid memories aer yours during these difficult days forward. Our deepest sympathy, Gus & Shirley McDonald

I have known Darllene since she was a baby. Always so happy. Her mum often bought her to our home so she could play with us. She was a lovely lady. Sorry for your loss Donna.
