Obituary For Denise Adele (McMahon) Rankin

Rankin, Denise Adele (McMahon), 65, Fairview, NS, passed away peacefully in her home on March 8, 2024. Born in Halifax, Denise was the daughter of the late Johnston and Elsie (Buchanan) McMahon. Denise was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to so many. From a young age, she was a devoted animal lover who had many pets throughout her life and always took the time to rescue wildlife and birds in need. Denise had a big heart and was always the first to lend a helping hand or kind word to anyone who needed it. She had an amazing sense of humour and never took life too seriously. Her bubbly personality and constant need to keep busy were contagious and one couldn’t help but smile whenever Denise was around.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Kathleen (Corey), son, Patrick, sisters, Jackie, Cathy (Dave), Pattie (Raymond), brother, Danny (Barb), former spouse, Gary, and her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Nancy and Bettie, and brother, Donnie.

Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Denise’s memory can be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA.

So sorry to Hear of her passing. She was a wonderful friend. Although she was a person who liked to walk everywhere she was going, she still appreciated a drive home when I met her at the Super Store in Fairview. We lived in the same building.

I am so shocked and sad to learn of Denise's passing. I only know denise from working at the joesph howe superstore, she was the nicest and caring customer I've ever had. She always looked for me and waved and knew me by name. I remember one day she handed me lottery tickets that were already scratched and told me I could have these non winning tickets cause t there was a code to go online to see if you won the bonus, I was so shocked and happy that she thought to give them to me, she was such a nice lady. I want to send my condolences to her family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I will definitely miss our chats that we shared over the years. I hope denise wasn't suffering, as she never showed it in front of me, always happy and talkative. Denise is your guardian angel now. May she rest in peace.

Denise was a kindhearted thoughtful person who loved to laugh and have fun. I cherish the memories that she was a part of growing up together with the Redden girls and of course Junie & Carl. I think of her every time I look at my little granddaughters bumble bee suitcase that she passed on to me for her. Our heartfelt condolences to her family - Jane & Laurie Hartnett

She was like another daughter to me, and I loved her more that words can express. Her kindness and loving ways will always be remembered and cherished. I will miss our daily phone chats, which always ended with laughter. I will miss you terribly, but never forget you, Niece. Love June (Mrs. Redden) xo

Kathleen and Patrick, I have so many wonderful memories of Denise. We were friends for 60 years. Not only best friends but Neice is family. I feel so blessed to have Denise in my life. She and I were always there for each other. Denise was the kindest, sweetest person. She was the first one to help anyone. She loved animals and I remember her and I finding cats and bringing them home thinking we were going to keep them. My Mom would tell us No, bring them back to where they live. We were kids and never realized these cats were in people's yards when we found them. My children knew her as Aunt Neicy as we were always together. So many childhood memories that we would relive and always laugh about. The teachers would get us mixed up at school even though we looked nothing alike. Every memory I have growing up and even in adulthood , Denise was always a part of. I miss her beyond words and my heart is broken. Rest in Pease my sweet friend. You and I will always be best friends. I love you dearly. My deepest condolences to her family and all who knew and loved her. 😇 Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel.
