Obituary For Desmond Melvin Sinclair

Desmond Melvin Sinclair, 72, of Lower Vaughan passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2025 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was born in October of 1953, in Riverside Albert New Brunswick, the son of the late Melvin Sinclair and Edna (Kane) Sinclair.

Des will be remembered as a gentle, soft spoken, good natured man, generous with a smile, a laugh and a story. He was a loyal friend, who valued his close friends, all things cat, including his own, and being in the outdoors more than anything. He liked to explore the back roads of Albert County, Hunt, Fish, and garden. He cherished many hunting seasons in Rawdon with his father Mel and uncles Steve and Wayne. Des was a machinist by trade and he worked at many jobs which included a groundskeeper at Sherwood Golf and Country Club course in near Chester NS, and as a Commissionaire at Fundy National Park NB.

Des will be deeply missed by his mother Edna Sinclair, of Halifax; His aunts; Donna Pittman of Alma, Paula Landsdale (Rick) of Alma, Darlene Nelson of Moncton, Patricia Kane of Alma; uncles; Wayne Kane (Gloria) of Alma, Russell Kane (Brenda) of Brooks, AB and Clayton Kane (Darlene) of Alma. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews, as well as close lifelong friends; Dave Alcorn, Bernie Alcorn, Tim Butland, Marla and Eric Rossiter, Kim Hoar, Orville Kennie, Melvin Edgett, Allan Church (Bucky).

He was predeceased by his grandparents Earl and Pearl Sinclair and Hamilton and Georgia Kane, His father Melvin Sinclair Uncles; Reggie , Douglas, Steven Nelson, Allan Pittman.

A special Thanks to close friends who helped Des these past years. The help and generosity from the friends he held dear, was greatly appreciated.

It is Des’s wish there be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date.

    I met Des through Tim when I first moved to Halifax in 1986. He spent many evenings sitting around the table telling stories. He was such a nice man. My condolences to his friends and family.

    Condolences to the family. Des was a very quiet man with great stories. Worked with him as commissionaire at Fundy Park and enjoyed every minute, Will miss him, and know God has a plan for him. See you later Des.
