Obituary For Doris Rose Wournell

Doris Rose Wournell of Dartmouth, NS passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 82.

Doris was an active volunteer for many programs in Dartmouth, including the school breakfast program. In 2004, she was recognized by the Province of NS for Exceptional Volunteer Service and by HRM as Volunteer of the Year.

She loved crafts, knitting, and crocheting, and was always working on something. More recently she took up painting. Doris was always ready to help out family, neighbours, and friends.

She is remembered with love by her children, Debbie (Bill) and Stephen (Sylvia); her grandchildren, Jason (Erin), Jennifer, Cheryl (Will), and Andrea (Omar); her great grandchildren, Ada, Mia, Emma, Nathaniel, Bryce, Alisa, Brooklyn, Adam, Ben, and Austin; her siblings, Earl, Max, Faye, and Edie. Doris will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbours.

She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer & Annie Isenor, her husband Donald, and siblings Lois, Thelma, and Opal.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Holy Trinity-Emmanuel Church, 30 Alfred Street, Dartmouth. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00 am, also at Holy Trinity-Emmanuel Church. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice in her name.

    Doris was a treasured volunteer of the Dartmouth Boys & Girls Club Breakfast Program. Tuesday was pizza day and Doris served up that favourite breakfast to hundreds of Harbourview School for many years. Doris's contribution to a happy healthy start for school children is one of many contributions she made for the community of Dartmouth North. A life well lived. My sincere condolences to the family.     It was a joy to have Doris as a parishioner during my time at Holy Trinity Emmanuel. Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

    Doris and I worked together at Eastern Optical back in the late 70S. she was always a Quick witty Lady. later in life my mother Barbara were friends through the church and volunteering Last time I spoke with her was at a restaurant in Dartmouth rest Doris

    Doris was one of my favorite people at Edgemere Senior's complex in Dartmouth.She was so helpful to so many people and I loved her dearly. She was such a good painter and I will miss her so much in painting class. I have know Doris for a very long time and I know how strong her faith was..which gives me great peace and comfort, because I know I will see her again.     Doris was such a wonderful part of my school years growing up near Harbourview School and being best friends with Debbie. Doris always brought a smile to my face.     Whenever, I visited Doris over the years, there was a hot cup of tea to enjoy, while catching up on family news. Doris spoke fondly of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, She was task -orientated and gave her time, without hesitation, to many outreach programs. Doris was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Church for many years. My Deepest Sympathy to Debbie, Bill, Stephen, Sylvia and their family. RIP, Doris and may peace with your family.
