Obituary For Gloria Mae Williams

Age 82 of Lower Sackville N.S. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 13th 2023 at Halifax Hospice

Born in Halifax N.S., she was the daughter of Edmund Joseph Saulnier (Meteghan River N.S.) and Rose Alma Saulnier (Saulnierville N.S.). She was predeceased by her siblings and the last of 7 children. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth William Williams, daughters Karen-Lee Williams (Anthony Williams) and Krista-layne Williams (John Nicholas). Grand-children Rielle, Aaron, Morgan, Scott, Scarlett and Cassandra.

Gloria always had a Passion for singing and Joined a band as lead singer at 16 for Eddy Melanson and the Rockabilly’s. She and her band toured with Bill Haley and the Comets, which an amazing highlight to her singing career.

Gloria also Loved figure skating and was offered a position with the ice capades at 18 which she turned down.

Joining the military as a young woman in her 20s with the Canadian Womans Army Corps eventually meeting our father. They dated for a short period, got married June 5th 1965 and planted roots in Halifax. While starting a flourishing career with the government, she had her first daughter Karen-lee and 10 years later her second daughter Krista-Layne. Gloria had various hobbies and pastimes including women’s softball, bowling, darts, and rollerskating which she enjoyed doing with her two daughters. Starting a singing group Electra Gold with her best friend Elaine Murphy, the group did many shows at various public gatherings such as weddings, ceremonies, and functions. Gloria owned and operated her own Talent Agency (Atlantic Talent Agency) where she provided local actors and actresses for film and commercial. She was also a lead in a local movie Noon-gun. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered most of her time. Gloria finally retired at 65 to spend time with her family.

Gloria had a zest for life and was always on the go. She had a bright, beautiful smile that was welcoming to everyone. She was a kind and loving person who always had fun where ever she was. Had an exuberant amount of friends and still loved meeting new people. She loved taking care of children and helping people as much as she could. Anyone who new her, knew they could come to her for support and she would always be there. She left a lasting impression on the people she met. Loved her children and grandchildren fiercely as family was the most important thing to her. She made every holiday special. Our time with her will be memorable and irreplaceable. She was loved so much and will be missed dearly.

Celebration of Life to be held at the Sackville Legion, September 22nd 11-1. Any and all donations on behalf of Gloria, can be made to the Halifax Hospice 618 Francklyn St Halifax N.S.

    Dear Ken and Family, I am so saddened to hear of Gloria's passing shortly after I called your home to say hello this last summer. Gloria was an amazing lady. She was my talent agent at Aspect Talent Agency and a dear friend. Throughout the years, Gloria and I had lively conversations and lunches.     So sorry for your loss. I bowled with Gloria, she was amazing. Always there to help and to answer questions. Always gave you a boost if you were not bowling well " don't worry everyone has a bad sting, it will be fine " such a great support for 1st time bowlers. She will be miss!

    I have the greatest memories with Gloria and my mom, of course at Heather Lanes.
