Obituary For James Wylde

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Wylde on March 29, 2026, at the age of 56.

James was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia but lived much of his early life in Cole Harbour. A bright mind and high achiever, he received a Bachelor of Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and went on to complete a Master of Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in Engineering from Dalhousie University.

After finishing school, James worked in Ottawa as a Project Engineer before moving to Texas, where he worked for 13 years in both business and engineering roles building analytical instruments. James took much pride in his work and made many lifelong friends throughout his career. After a short stint back in the Ottawa area, he returned to Nova Scotia to be closer to family and the home that he loved.

James will be remembered fondly for his love of story-telling and his ‘unique’ sense of humor. He had a deep love for family, thoroughly enjoying having a niece and nephew living close by this past year. He was a devoted husband and dedicated son.

As we celebrate James' life, we remember the warmth and laughter he brought into our lives. He opened his heart to anyone who needed help, shared a shoulder if you needed someone to listen, and never turned his back on a friend. Memories of concerts, trips, and adventures on the beach will bring us solace in this time of sadness.

James will be greatly missed by his loving wife Nicole (Payne), sister Kelly (Vern) Johnson, nieces Meghan & Kate, and nephew Ryan. He will also be missed by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, especially his best friend of many years, Chris Williams.

He is predeceased by his father Walter Wylde and mother Beryle (MacNeil) Wylde.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
