Obituary For John J. Morgan

John J. Morgan (Jack) - 1950-2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John J. Morgan (Jack) of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Jack was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, friend, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran who passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on Bell Island and raised in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, Jack served with pride and dedication in the Royal Canadian Navy for 35 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer First Class in 2003.

He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Vivien, and a proud father to Julie-Ann (Ryan) and Corey (Jessica). Jack took great joy in his role as grandfather to Abby, Kayla, Austin, Amber, and Cameron, and as great-grandfather to Kacie. He also enjoyed time with his cherished grand-dogs.

Jack is survived by his mother, Anita, and his younger siblings Alson, Marilyn (Kevin), Bill (Linda), and Faye (David). He was predeceased by his father, William (Bill), his father-in-law, Arthur, and his brother-in-law, Charl.

Known for his warmth and connection to others, Jack seemed to know someone wherever he went—whether travelling near or far, on the golf course, or during his regular meetings at Tim Hortons.

A natural leader and teacher, Jack mentored, coached, and guided many in his career and in his everyday life. As a valued and respected member of his community, he continued to do so throughout his retirement. He enjoyed helping others and gave his time generously, always putting others before himself, and made a lasting positive impact on those around him.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, there will be no service. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Jack will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Fair winds and following seas Jack, my dear oldest brother. From waterways to fairways, you lived life to the fullest, and I am so proud to be your sister. Gone too soon and way too fast. While it was the hardest thing I've ever done, being by your bedside with your family to the end was the greatest honour of my life. I will carry that with me forever. Your watch is done Chief, we've got it from here. ❤️

I had the privilege of working with Jack at Kent Building Supplies on Baker Drive. He was my go‑to person for just about anything, with a work ethic beyond reproach. More importantly, he was a true friend—always willing to offer advice and genuinely showing care for those around him. My sincere condolences to Vivien and to Jack's entire family.
