Obituary For Patricia (Trish) Diane McNeill

It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister, partner, friend, daughter, and aunt—Patricia (Trish) Diane McNeill on June 9, 2025, at the age of 66.

Trish was born in Sydney, NS, to Edie (Harrington) and Eddie McNeill. She grew up on Harold Street, surrounded by the most fun, interesting, and imaginative group of friends a child could dream of.

The creative talents of her parents were a tremendous influence on her life. Trish had a fantastic eye for photography and her work was regularly featured as a winning entry on CBC Maritimes Tonight. Everybody received a unique, hand-drawn birthday card from Trish. She shared her love and kindness in the form of homemade fudge, soups, meat pies, and delicious pizzas.

She had an unparalleled closeness and bond with her devoted sister, Arlene.

Over the course of her incredible life, Trish travelled extensively, to northern Manitoba, Jamaica, France (including Normandy with her brother Jim), and Ireland, to name a few.

Trish started in Emergency Communications as a special constable with Dartmouth Police and ended her career with Halifax Police. She was a highly valued and respected dispatcher. Trish was the calm in the darkness.

When Trish met Hugh Danford in 1976, she felt they were soulmates and always knew Hugh was "the one". Hugh and Trish have been living a happy life in Lower Sackville with their lovable pups, Frankie and Beau.

Cape Breton Island will serve as Trish’s final resting place, as her heart always belonged there.

Trish is survived by her partner, Hugh Danford; her sister, Arlene Miller (Tony); her nieces, Katie Paul and Heather; great-niece Letty; great-niece Sophia; Uncle Don; Aunt Frances; stepsons Scott and Hartt Danford; as well as many cousins and cherished friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edie and Eddie McNeill, and her brother, James (Jim) McNeill.

A special thanks to the Halifax Infirmary, Medical-Surgical-Neuro ICU 5.2, and her wonderful nurse, Josie, for her compassionate care.

Those wishing to honour Trish's memory, please consider donating to your favourite animal welfare or rescue organization.

A celebration of life will take place June 21, 2025, from 1pm - 4 pm at CannaConnect 463 Sackville Dr, Lower Sackville, NS

Dear Arlene, I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Trish's passing. I had not seen Trish in years but had a memory flash into my mind of being at Tarbot as a very young teen with you and Trish and Jennifer. Eating apple pie and laughing with her. I am so sorry you lost your special sister. Love Ursula
