Shirley “ Gladys” (Church) Roma

It is with great sadness that the family of Gladys Roma announce her passing on December 14.

Born in Lower Vaughn on June 29, 1933 to John & Sadie (Swinamer) Church, she grew up in Lower Vaughn, moving to Windsor when she married and continued to live there for many years, raising her family and working at Wilcox Hardware. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, always ensuring no visitor left without having fresh baked squares, cookies and a cup of tea. She was always ready for a good game of cards and looked forward to attending dances on Saturday nights.

Later in life, many years after the passing of her first husband Victor Roma, Glady was blessed to find love for a second time when she met John Marshall and moved to New Glasgow where she lived happily for 27 years.

Glady is survived by her loving spouse, John A. Marshall, New Glasgow, her daughter Barbara Mason (Douglas ) of Bible Hill, son Michael Roma, Valley. Grandchildren Colin Mason (Caryn) New Hampshire, Matthew Roma (Jenn), Middle Sackville, Courtney Roma, Alberta, and Christopher Roma (Annabell), Dartmouth. Her great-grandchildren Elliot & Conner Mason, New Hampshire, Lincoln & Simon Roma, Middle Sackville, Sophia & Josh Roma, Alberta, step-children Faye Royal (Sandy) New Glasgow, John Marshal Jr. (Tamara) Enfield & step-daughter-in-law JoAnne Marshall, Westville, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her only surviving sibling, sister Joyce Boylan, Wolfville.

Gladys was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Roma, her grandson Jeffery Roma in infancy & her step- son Dougie Marshall.

Predeceasing her as well were her parents John & Sadie Church, her brothers Harold Church, Herbert Church (as a young child), sisters Lillian Wile, Hazel Rattray-Sanford and Greta Bonnyman.

Cremation has taken place and a grave side burial will take place in the spring.
