Obituary For Troy Kimble Arseneault

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Troy Kimble Arseneault, 59, of Bedford, with family by his side, due to complications from a rare form of cancer.

Troy was born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick to Leonard and Jeannette (Godin) Arseneault.

Growing up, Troy played tennis, a sport he continued to enjoy throughout his life. Even when he no longer played, he still enjoyed spectating. When he first moved to Nova Scotia, he found a partner who was just as competitive as he was, playing for hours at a time, even competing in some club tournaments.

Troy also enjoyed fishing, a passion he had rediscovered in recent years, catching his first ever striped bass just last year, an accomplishment he was tremendously proud of.

He was an avid Blue Jays fan, in great seasons and terrible ones. He created a treasured memory after decades of fandom, taking a family trip to Toronto for a game made even more special with a Blue Jays win.

Troy was a loyal friend, always willing to go above and beyond to help in ways big and small, but most important of all to him were his family. He enjoyed cooking and baking for them, carrying down recipes from his childhood and making them to share with family and friends. He would often spend whole days making an array of baked goods for everyone to enjoy.

When Troy got sick, he never let his illness define him, remaining positive, and living life on his terms. He was determined to make the most of every day, including when he visited Vancouver for the first time, seeing as much of the city as he could despite his illness.

Troy is survived by his partner of more than 31 years, his wife Kerry, their sons Quinton and Donovan, his children Amanda (Jon), and Tyler (Jade), four grandchildren, his mother Jeannette, brothers Neil (Kerri) and Shawn (Linda), a niece, nephew, and numerous cousins.

Troy was predeceased by his father Leonard, in 2001.

A special thank you to Dr. Shaifta Jabeen and Dr. Bruce Colwell, without whom we wouldn't have had Troy with us for as long as we did, and to Nurse Kadi, who made every visit a pleasure despite the circumstances.

An informal Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday August 22, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Luxor (Common Room), 630 Larry Uteck Boulevard, Halifax.

For those wishing to honor Troy, please consider a donation to a cancer research charity of your choice.

I played more than a few games of snooker and billiards with Troy in Moncton over the years. Knew him since way back when I met him in Dalhousie when we were in our late 20s, and the fact our birthdays were one day apart gave us way too much incentive to celebrate together. But it also gave us a lot of good memories. I was saddened to hear of his health struggles in the past few years, and am further saddened to hear of his passing. Save a game of snooker for me, Troy.
