Obituary For William (Bill) Jennings Sr.

William (Bill) Jennings,Sr. -87, It is in loving memory and with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the beloved husband of Joan (née Schofield), proud father of Doris and Bill Jr. and grandfather of Morgan and Cassidy.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1957 and trained at CFB Cornwallis, NS where he met Joan, the love of his life. Married for 63 years November 3, 2025. Bill and Joan moved to Ontario and started a family after Bill left the service. After 7 years they decided to move back home to Nova Scotia and opened a business. Bill, a car enthusiast and avid salesman, loved his job and often said it was never work to him.

He had many varied interests and was self-taught in many subjects. He loved Nascar racing, football, history, politics, cards, true stories and a good verbal debate. He worked hard and was a people person, always the life of the party, but family was the most important.

In later years he and Joan joined the CFB Stadacona services for veterans and renewed old friendships and made many new ones. He made friends wherever he went and liked to speak with people from all walks of life.

Bill will be missed by extended family, close friends, many of these from the military, biking group, the “boys” of his coffee club and so many others lives he touched.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Doris, sister Barbara, brother-in-law Paul, and in-laws Eldred and Eileen.

In these later years with health issues Bill knew his time was limited and asked family to not be sad, but know “I did what I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted” it was a good life.

REMEMBER ME

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,

But remember me in every tomorrow.

Remember me in every tomorrow,

Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,

I’ve only gone to rest for a little while.

Although my leaving causes pain and grief,

My going has eased my hurt,

And given me relief.

So dry your eyes and remember me,

Not as I am now, but as I used to be,

Because, I will remember you all,

And look on with a smile.

Understand in your hearts,

I’ve only gone to rest for a little while.

As long as I have the love of each of you,

I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
