Obituary For Doris Bernice Nicholas (Bremner)

It is with great sadness the family of Doris Bernice Nicholas announces her passing on Sunday August 22, 2021 at the age of 80 years. Born in Halifax, Doris was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Doris B (Mosher) Bremner. She worked for Canadian Fairbanks- Morse and Canadian General Electric. Doris served with 529 Armdale Kiwanis Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron for 11 years as Supply Officer and was affectionately known to the cadets as "Mom". Doris was a flight commander at CFB Greenwood Air Cadet Summer Camp in 1979. While with the Air Cadets she was able to enjoy numerous flights in the Air Cadet Gliders at Greenwood. Doris also had flights in the L19 Glider Tow plane and Twin Huey as well as Sea King helicopters. Doris most exciting event occurred when she had a flight in the Simulator at the Hornell Centre in Greenwood. Doris received several awards and gifts the from the Air Cadets, Air Cadets League and Armdale Kiwanis Club. She retired from cadets in 1990 due to illness. She is survived by her husband Douglas of 65 years and brother Gary Bremner (Dale) of Dartmouth. Doris was predeceased by their only child Douglas Jr. in 2009. In keeping with Doris's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.

    Doug, Gary & Dale - I am sending my sincerest condolences after hearing about Doris' passing. I always enjoyed our phone conversations and would tell her that I wished I lived closer so I could have in-person visits. Your memories will keep her close in your hearts always.
