Obituary For Lorraine Erdine MacLeod

We are sad to announce the passing of Lorraine Erdine ( Harris) MacLeod on Aug 7th, 2021 at the QEII. Lorraine peacefully took her last smile with her two children by her side at the age of 83. Lorraine cherished her children and her grandchildren making sure she was always there for them and to always have food for them, right down to a small bowl of cooked carrots for the dog Saje. Lorraine grew up in Clyde River, moved to Halifax, Digby and Truro where she brought up her two children. Both children moved to the Halifax area and Lorraine wanted to be close to them and her grandchildren so she made the move to Bedford where she spent the last 20 plus years of her life. Lorraine was loved by everyone that met her young and old. She was a gentle soul with a heart of gold and a smile that made everyone feel welcome. She was selfless and always took care of others before herself. During her life she was a wife and mother first. In her early years she worked at a fish plant in Shelburne and later in office and retail at Margolians and MacQuarries in Truro, where she made lifelong friends. While she was not a big traveller, camping with family and friends, trips to Bangor and around NS were a regular occurrence. Later in life she travelled to Vegas and out west to see her sisters. Bowling and hosting friends were both a big part of her life that she enjoyed. Lorraine thought the world of her two children and there was nothing she wouldn't do for them and nothing they wouldn't do for her. Billy and Cheryl always wanted her to be happy, enjoy life and put herself first. "We love you Mom, we miss you Mom, we know that you are at peace, resting and always in our hearts" Lorraine was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Newell) Harris. Predeceased by brother Robert. Survived by son Bill (Patricia Poitras) , daughter Cheryl (Bill McMullin), grandchildren Adam (Jessica) Colin, Ian, Amy, Mitchell and Amanda. Two great grandsons Cohen and Avery. Brothers Ray Harris (Ruth), Neil Harris (Janice). Sisters Judy Clark (Ken) Sandra Penney (Chuck) and former husband Bill MacLeod (Truro). In keeping with Lorraine's wishes, no funeral or visitation. Cremation has taken place, there will be a burial and celebration of life for family only at a later date.
