Obituary For Christopher Lawrence Kelbratowski

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Christopher Lawrence Kelbratowski announce his passing on May 27, 2025. Chris passed away suddenly in his home in Dartmouth at the age of 69. Chris was a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend.

Born in Tuchola, Poland in 1955, Chris moved to Canada with his family at age 5. Chris grew up in Nova Scotia, spending most of his life in Dartmouth and the surrounding community. Chris is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Joseph Kelbratowski, and brothers Roger and John.

Chris loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his free time fishing, hunting, and otherwise being out in the woods. He had many jobs over the years, but was most proud of his 12 years running Kel’s Deli with his brother, Michael. Chris was fortunate to have a great group of friends and a loving family, who will miss him dearly.

Chris is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marsha Kelbratowski (Macauley), daughters Katrina (Shane) Whitman and Kassandra Kelbratowski, brother Michael (Theresa) Kelbratowski, and his beloved granddaughter, Kinsley Whitman, whose hugs never failed to brighten his day. He leaves behind many friends and extended family members.

At Chris’ request, no funeral service will be held. To leave a message of condolence with the family, please visit https://www.donaldkwalker.ca/obituaries/.

All of you are in our prayers, and our memories with Chris - hunting for deer, polish christmas wigilia, and shooting the shit and working at the store, to name several - are in our hearts. I was in the RCMP and my first memory of Chris was stopping him on the Shore Road in Eastern Passage in his red Corvette. When I became a lawyer, I had the pleasure of representing the Family for many years. With sympathy. Blair MacKinnon

Sorry to hear of the passing of an old friend. I've known Chris for 50 plus years and although we hung out in different groups there were many times when we would all be together at a party or an outdoor event. Later in our years we got to know each other better and I really enjoyed talking with him while attending the same events. He will be missed by many. RIP Chris.

We are so sorry for your loss, Chris was one of our longest and dearest friends, and certainly one of my favorite people. We are going to miss him forever, but have many cherished memories and get togethers where there was lots of laughter and happiness. RIP our friend....Wade and Ruth Rent
