Obituary For Delbert Robert Lowe

It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Delbert (Del) Robert Lowe on March 15 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. He was born in Halifax in 1950.

Del grew up in Port Wallace where he spent many hours swimming, fishing, paddling, snowmobiling, and hunting. A favourite pastime was coming up with pranks to play on his siblings. A graduate of Prince Andrew High School, he worked as an accomplished salesman, and developed lasting relationships with customers. Later, his sales career progressed into entrepreneurship. With his wife, Del operated businesses Loweco Promotions and Atlantica Trading Company, serving wholesale and retail clients across the Atlantic provinces.

Del had an interest in antique cars and was especially proud of his Oldsmobile. He loved animals, and had a particular fondness for cats. In his later years, he devoted countless hours researching topics of interest. A man of faith, he gave generously of his time and resources to support those less fortunate.

Del will be remembered fondly for his love of story-telling and jokes. Memories of family trips and adventures will bring us solace in this time of sadness.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Morash); daughters Melanie of Toronto, Sarah of Halifax, and son Shaun (Julie) of Bedford. He is also survived by grandchildren Charlie, Izzy, Declan, and Ellie; brother Dameon (Linda) of Malagash, sisters Dorilda (Craig) Blanche of Saint John, and Rhodell McKinnon of Dartmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Harold Lowe.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date in spring at Mahon Cemetery in Great Village. Donations in Del’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
