Darlene Gladys Bondt, 79 passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2025 with her husband and best friend Beverley Gordon by her side. She was born in Sydney, NS to the late Marian and Albert McGowan

In her early years Darlene worked at Cape Breton Post as well as with the city of Sydney as a payroll clerk. In October of 1976 she was set up on a blind date by her friend Beverly. A success as this May she celebrated 48 years with her husband Jacob. They were married in 1977 and two years later they welcomed their son Graham and then their daughter Natalie. Darlene enjoyed many family trips; camping to Florida and Ingonish, March break trips to the outlets in Maine, a family trip to Europe in 1992 and beach holidays to the Dominican Republic with her husband in later years.

She enjoyed many years at Whispering Winds campground where she spent much of her time quilting with her friends Vivian Rose and Cathy Clarke. She has made many lasting beautiful quilts that will be treasured for generations to come. Darlene had a deep and unwavering faith in the Lord and she found peace in knowing that her Saviour was always with her and she was ready to meet him when the time came.

Darlene is survived by her husband Jacob; son Graham (Anne-Claire); daughter Natalie (Jason) Walker; grandchildren Fletcher, Winona, Hailey, Logan & Noah and niece Karen MacDonald. She loved each of her grandchildren immensely and looked forward to their visits.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Nancy.

A grave side service will take place on Friday July 18th, 2025 at 11am at Memorial Gardens, Dartmouth with a reception to follow at Donald K Walker Funeral Directors Ltd, 11 Akerley Blvd. Dartmouth NS
