Obituaries

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Joanne. She died on July 27th at the age of 68 after a very brief battle with cancer.

She was born in Halifax in 1958 to Patrick and Edith Flemming, who preceded her in death only 9 months prior. She is survived by her 2 children, Shaunn and Mackenzie, and her siblings Janice, Christine, Susan, Melinda, Steven and Philip.

Joanne worked for Greybar Harris & Roome for 40 years before retiring in February of 2026. She had a love of local strawberries, folk art, and the musician John Prine. She was like a second mother to many of her nieces, nephews, and the friends of her children. Joanne was a uniquely vibrant woman who will never be replaced.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or service.
